Ultra Low Background and Triple Coincidence Detection

The Hidex ULLA achieves low background using a heavy lead shield and optimal active guard around a triple-PMT detector. This setup enables high counting efficiency, luminescence-free counting, and absolute activity counting using the TDCR method.

High Counting Efficiency

With three PMTs at 120° alignment, the Hidex ULLA offers superior detection compared to conventional double coincidence detectors. For example, counting efficiency for 3H in 20 ml vials is:

Quench Correction with TDCR

TDCR is a universal method for measuring counting efficiency without external standards, effective for various samples and isotopes. An external Eu-152 standard is available for traditional quench correction.

Luminescence-Free Counting

Operating solely in triple coincidence mode eliminates chemiluminescence interference, allowing immediate counting of samples with long luminescence decay, such as 14C in NaOH.

Alpha/Beta Separation

An optional alpha/beta separation feature uses unique electronics and 2D/3D spectrum analysis for reliable detection, even for unknown mixtures.

Hidex VALO Software

VALO is user-friendly software designed for Hidex LSC, offering extensive data reduction, quench curve analysis, and easy multi-user access. Users can add methods and samples while counting, with a 21 CFR Part 11 compliant version available.
